dark horse

I don’t know if you recall the piece I started a short while ago: all these soft oranges and yellows.

And then blue came in.

That blue came along. Looked like a dark horse at first. But, hey, look where it took me.

This can happen, can’t it? You set off in one direction. A seemingly slight distraction … and now, look.

I’m still working (mostly), within a tight color range. The horses – all blue. Blue on blue on blue. So take a moment to look at all the blues in my most recent version. Your eye starts to play with the secondary colors: the red blue pushing its opposite to look greener, and vice versa.

I don’t know why I had to kick the bright pink in there other than to push the dark darker.

Yes. Darken them. Those dark horses.
