Look at the color of the leaves on that tree. Yellow, right? That’s what the camera is showing us. Yes.

But this time, instead of using your camera, you walk up to the tree. You look at the leaves. You see that the sun is highlighting the yellow. But there is a lime green, a deeper green, some reddish brown. All there, bumping into and layering in with that yellow.

And so in my work, I use color with no attempt to be literal, I look for the vibrancy that comes into play when you allow colors to interact in layers. It’s the same idea. You see one color. But within that one, there are many.

And that’s how life is.
